Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, is believed to have been self-created on the highest hill inside the Kathmandu Valley. The entire structure of the stupa is deeply symbolic: the white dome represents the earth, while the 13-tiered, tower-like structure at the top symbolises the 13 stages to nirvana.

Patan Durbar Square. is the old palace of the kingdom of Patan/Lalitpur. This palace complex is an excellent showcase of Newari architecture and craftsmanship. Located in front of the Royal Palace, Krishna Mandir is one of the most beautiful temples in Patan. Patan Durbar Square is located in the heart of the city and was once the palace of the kings of Patan. The square is an enchanting mélange of palace buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples.

Kathmandu Durbar Square, also known as Basantapur Durbar and Hanuman Dhoka Palace, is one of the three durbar squares in the Kathmandu Valley. This was the old royal palace and courtyard of the Mallas and Shahs of Kathmandu with a plethora of temples and shrines. One of them is The Kumari Ghar - The 17th century Kumari Temple, or the temple of Living Goddess is an example of highly developed Nepali craftsmanship. The Kumari Ghar is the house of the Living Goddess Kumari, incarnation of Goddess Taleju. It is one of the most famous buildings in Kathmandu, and probably the main reason people visit the Durbar Square.
