Kashi for Seniors (Ex Varanasi)

Reach the pious land of Varanasi, the destination to wash away all your sins and find spiritual bliss. The city is adorned with the sacred river Ganga and decked with holy ghats and temples. 

In the evening get ready to witness the most magical Ganga Aarti. Varanasi’s Ganga Aarti is the most beautiful and calming experience you will ever get. Later, spend time on the ghat and let the calmness of the river Ganga sink in. Come back to the hotel, dinner and stay in the hotel.

Enjoy a early morning boat ride on the Ganga ghat. The old buildings, ashrams and places along the river side look as colourful as rainbow when the sun light hits them. Enjoy the beautiful ride whilst our boatsman will explain the culture of Varanasi and about history of River Ganga, Varanasi and other ghats.

Next we will visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple - one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. On the outside, the temple is adorned with intricate carvings that impart a divine quality to the facade.  Other than that, the temple also houses several other small temples such as Kaalbhairav, Vishnu, Virupaksh Gauri, Vinayaka and Avimukteshwara. After returning have breakfast, rest of the day at leisure.

Later in the evening, visit the market and enjoy the positive energy of the city even in the chaos. Come back to the hotel, dinner and stay in the hotel.

Wake up early and visit the Shree Kaal Bhairav Temple at 6:00 AM, it is believed to be the kotwal (Chief police officer) of Kashi and a visit to Kashi is considered incomplete if don’t go here. 

After returning, have breakfast and we will proceed to Sarnath which is the place where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma then Buddhist Sangha originated as well as came into existence because of the enlightenment of Kondanna. 

We will visit Dhamekh stupa complex, where the excavated ruins are located. It's set in a landscaped park and contains the well-preserved Dhamekh Stupa (at the spot where the Buddha is believed to have delivered his first sermon), followed by Sarnath Archaeological Museum with interesting artifacts dating from the 3rd century B.C. to the 12th century A.D. Lastly, visit the Thai temple and monastery which is renowned for its 80-foot-tall stone Buddha statue, claimed to be the largest in India.

Return from Sarnath, enjoy the evening leisurely with dinner and stay at hotel.

Early morning visit to Assi Ghat, the Ghat is renowned for a large Shiva Lingam placed under a Peepal Tree. This place also boasts one more ancient temple enshrining a Shiva Lingam famously known as Asisangameshwar Lingam. This was also the place where the renowned saint poet Tulasi Das completed the famous literary work Ramcharitmanas.  

Post breakfast we will drop you to the Varanasi airport/railway station with lots of memories and in the hope to see you again soon.
